Tierra del Sol (Land of Sun) Empty Tierra del Sol (Land of Sun)

Post  Anastas_Nomad Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:51 pm

So here's my original RP idea. All are welcome to join in. afro

Basic Concept (pronounciation keys in []'s):
The story behind this RP is very Desertpunkish--most of the world is a desolate wasteland because of the wars fought between the nations hundreds of years ago. When the climate began to shift on a heating trend, things began to grow worse for the land: rains, which used to shower the land, turned seasonal until finally just stopping entirely; the forests dried up and decayed, many turning to stone before nature rot could set in; the wind, generated by the heat, swept in sand from the coasts which peppered the land little by little, until it blanketed the landscape.
Many of the towns, cities, and villages in Tierra del Sol will be in Tchit [Cheeked], a modified form of modern Spanish. For those who don't speak Spanish (like myself. Hahahaha. xD) I will be providing the names translated into English.

-------------------------------

Our story centers around the country of Tierra del Sol (the Land of Sun). In the center of Tierra del Sol lies the remains of a ruined village, Ahnkora [on-CORE-uh]. Outlier villages, some several hundreds of miles away from Ahnkora, are littered throughout Tierra del Sol but share no allegiance with each other (they consider themselves all sovereign territories, somewhat like city-states). To the northeast of Tierra del Sol lies the Trade Federation of Rohzenkrants, or the Rohz [rose] Federation for short. On the surface, the Rohz acts like any other well-to-do import/export country, but politically they're more like an empire. The leader of the Rohz, known as the Headminister, is chosen by birthright to rule--much like the kings of olden days.
The Rohz, as of fifteen years ago, has been a nation "seeking to unite the world" through assimilation, also much like the kings of old. Nations that did not accept the hand of the Rohz were burned down for their rebellion; one such territory to meet this fate is Ahnkora, which in the heat of the flames from the Rohz's blasts, turned partially into glass. In the onslaught, many Ahnkorans chose the fate of slavery in order to stay alive; only a few chose to rebel against the Rohz. Those who did not wish to perish or lead a life of servitude fled the village.
To the south of Tierra del Sol lies Orodros [OH-roh-DROHs], a nation on neutral terms with both Tierra del Sol and the Rohz. Rumor has it that Orodros will shelter those affected by the Rohz's assaults...
To the west and north of Tierra del Sol lies the Great Ahnkor Sea (where, obviously, Ahnkora takes its namesake from). The rivers that ran from the Olombar [ALL-um-BAR] Mountains, which surrounds most of Orodros, dried up with the climate change, and soon the entirety of the Great Ahnkor Sea will have dried up as well (ironic that a Great Sea is little more than a puddle, thanks to the affairs of the Humes).

-------------------------------

Nationalities:
Ahnkorans:
- The Ahnkoran people are descendants of desert nomads, and as such, are lithe and extremely adapted to the heat of the desert. They are also proud of their long heritage, which some of the elders used to say extended far beyond The Old Wars. After the attack by the Rohz fifteen years ago, the Ahnkoran people have been divided into two subgroups: the Servants and the Exiles.
- Ahnkoran Servants
= Those that gave up their freedom in exchange for lives of slavery to the Rohz became the Servants. Many were the wives and children of the men that rebelled against the Rohz, but not all--there are plenty of cowardly men who surrendered and a few hardy women who gave their lives for Ahnkora. Children younger than twelve were slaughtered; the teens were sent to work in other countries far beyond the Great Ahnkora Sea.
- Ahnkoran Exiles
= Those that escaped from Ahnkora's enslavement were doomed to wander the wastes in search of new homes; many of the outlier villages in Tierra del Sol called these wanderers the Exiles for abandoning their village instead of dying for it. Most of the Exiles have been killed by the desert, but a small number still remain. There is talk amongst the other villages, and even in the other nations, that an Exile is planning to rebel against the Rohz; according to government officials in both Rhodro and the Rohz, this is nothing more than rumor and should be ignored.
Citizens of Rohz:
- Citizens in the Trade Federation of Rohzenkrants come from a very wealthy background of bankers, artisans, sailors, and businessmen. The money has made them Conservative in nature, and thus cold-hearted towards any of the nomadic tribes in Tierra del Sol. They refuse to speak Tchit, deeming is a lesser language than Ican [ICK-en] (named after Sir Amer of Ica who invented the language after ingesting hallucinagenic mushrooms. The Icans were conquered by the Rohz and adopted its language), and deem any nomad of the desert that speaks Tchit a "foul-mouthed sand spewer".
- The most wealthy banker, merchant, artisan, sailor, and businessmen make up the Federation, and are deemed the Royal Houses. The governing house is run by the Rohzenkrants family, and thus controls the nation.
Orods:
- Hearty and stable, the founders of Orodros believed in peace and balance with nature. They walk a delicate lifestyle, and as such are pacifists, though they practice a form of martial arts known as Rho Kon Do. The Orods have survived the long draught by trading with the usual hikers and caravans on their way to the Rohz and providing modest shelter to those in need. Open and neutral, Orods see the world in a broad-minded way--most Citizens of Rohz laugh and jeer at them, claiming their way of life is insubstantial and neutrality will gain them nothing.

-------------------------------

Other Info:
Magic is nonexistent in Tierra del Sol as the Order of Mages was lost in The Old Wars. Thus no character can use magic.

Technology is mostly steam- and clock-powered, thus guns, engines, and the like are known, but fairly uncommon (except in the Rohz, where it is the only technology available); computers have still yet to be invented, steam/clock or otherwise. Archaic technology, such blades, leather, etc is much more abundant in Tierra del Sol. Most clothing is either leather or cloth, but metallic armor has been known to exist amongst the wastes.

YOU MAY MAKE UP YOUR OWN NATIONALITY, such as one found beyond the Great Ahnkor Sea or beyond the Olombar Mountains or even from a village/city/town/etc in Tierra del Sol, FOR YOUR OCs! This is provided that you design and detail the nation, and I approve it (which more than likely I will. [: ).

As far as making a character is concerned, you are NOT limited to picking a nationality listed here. However, please respect the traits of each nationality (for instance, if you made a Citizen of Rohz and you interact with an Ahnkoran Servant, it would be out-of-character to treat them as anything but a slave). There's room for variety, such as Orods that want to fight or Citizens of Rohz that despise the ruling houses and the racism... but no Mary Sues, please. :3
